Hi, so I’m applying to transfer to a school for next fall. I need a 3.0 in order to meet the requirement. It’s currently Fall at my transfer school and I’ll have a 3.0 after the semester ends. If you don’t meet the 3.0 when you apply, they will wait for your spring grades (which I want to include to increase my chances of getting in). Should I send my transcripts now or after my fall semester?
Fall transfer appications usually aren’t due until sometime in the second semester. By then you will have your fall grade.
If you’re planning on transferring next fall, as in Fall 2018, then there is a very good chance that you will have already had to submit your application. It has been my experience that most schools won’t wait for spring grades to admit an applicant, but if they do, as you say, then you probably wouldn’t send any transcripts in until then. I am not aware of any institution that doesn’t factor fall grades a year before transfer into their GPA calculations, though it’s a little more rare to find one that waits until spring. As far as when you should send transcripts, that will depend on each individual school. Check their website and see what they say. Remember, just because a school may want you to self-report grades on an application does not mean that they wan’t you to send transcripts at the same time. Many schools won’t even need transcripts until you’re almost done with spring semester before transfer.
