Transfer question

Scholarships such as the Wilson Research Fellowship are not granted to transfer students, correct? Are there any such monetary awards available for prospective transfers, specifically merit scholarships?

Correct, transfer students are not eligible for the Woodrow Wilson Research Fellowship. So what is available for transfer students...

"The University offers a combination of grants, scholarships, loans, and work-study programs that assist students with demonstrated need to afford the cost of a Hopkins education. To be considered for financial aid, transfer applicants must fill out the Financial Aid Application and submit it to the Office of Student Financial Services by March 15 for fall term admission. Copies of your most recent federal tax returns are required with the application. Candidates must also complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and list Hopkins (E00473) as a recipient. Financial assistance available to transfers is very limited, and students desiring aid should be cognizant of the application deadlines.

The University cannot offer financial assistance to international transfer students. Non U.S. citizens who do not possess U.S. Permanent Resident status must complete the Declaration and Certification of Finances form to show their ability to meet the financial obligations of attending Hopkins in full. Applications will be considered incomplete until this information is received."

Thank you for the information. I had hopes to procure merit scholarships such as the one I mentioned, but it seems that they are available only for incoming freshman and are given upon consideration of admissions applications. I have another question which I hope you have time to answer: are internships readily given to undergraduates who express much interest? I'm sorry to burden you with so many questions, but I would deeply appreciate any thoughts.

Absolutely internships are available to undergraduates who seek them out. Being a research institution, learning begins in the classroom for Hopkins students but definitely does not end there. Students are STRONGLY encouraged to pursue experiential learning opportunities such as internships, research positions, studying abroad, etc.

The Career Center is an excellent first stop for students who want to pursue such practical experiences. As well, speaking with faculty and departmental staff in your areas of interest can help.
