I'm currently a freshman at NYU and I know for sure that I want to transfer into the Cornell ILR school. My question is whether I should apply for the Fall '07 semester or Spring '08 semester. I would love to get to Cornell as soon as possible but I think I'd need more time to build up a solid transcript of college grades and get some internship experience in NYC. Do you think I should just apply anyway for the Fall '07 semester and see what happens? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I say give it a shot...if you don't get in for the fall, you can reapply in the spring (as you've stated) and they'll see your determination.

i don't know about this but you might want to check whether you can apply 2 transfers in a year---some schools i think don't allow it.

hey FBI,
I have a question.
I was recently admitted to both NYU and Cornell as a transfer student. I'm pretty sure I want to attend Cornell, but I'd like to weigh out all of the pros and cons between both schools before I make a decision.
Are you wanting to transfer out of NYU because of dislike, and/or do you feel that Cornell is a better fit?
Also, I'd appreciate hearing anything you have to say about NYU. I need all the info that I can get.
Thanks!

NYU is a pretty good school academically, and the undergraduate economics department here is supposedly among the top 10. However, I want to transfer out of NYU both because of I don't like it here and I want to study ILR, which Cornell offers and NYU doesn't. NYU is just kind of spread out all over the place and the students here are not all that focused. I think Cornell would be a better fit for me and that's why I'm applying there as a transfer. If I were you, I would go to Cornell. You'll get a better education and be around better people.

you can send me a PM if you want. I transferred out of NYU last year after my freshman year and now I am a sophomore in ILR. So I know everything about the whole NYU to Cornell (ILR) process.
