transfer question

hi i'm completing my freshmen year at college here in pakistan. am i supposed to apply in the feb of my second year or can i wait for another year and apply in the feb of my 3rd year.

most colleges dont take third year transfers...if youre a freshman, you can apply by this march 1 for Fall 07 or apply by next march 1 for Fall 08, but thats it for most places (other than applying for spring 08)

To clarify - most schools require you to be at their campus for a minimum of 2 years to obtain their degree. Therefore, you could apply during your sophomore year ... for junior standing at the new school. Or, during your freshman year .... for sophomore standing at the new school.

It is not possible at most schools to transfer in for senior status.

I know a few people that have transferred into a school after completing 90 or so units, but the college will only accept 60 (2 years) max. It's still possible to transfer with more than 2 years, but often more difficult and you'll have basically wasted a year since they won't accept the credits.

First of all....if your applying as a foreign student my best advice would be to first apply for a student visa then apply to a school. From what I recall, in pakistan the schooling system goes by year not by semester so it would have been logical to apply around October of your Freshman year, but keep in mind depending on the college in which you are applying some school's admission cycle is on a rolling basis - meaning no deadline.
