If I were to transfer to HMC, I was wondering how they would crunch the credits from a quarter system into a semester system. Are there any students with experience with this? I am especially curious about humanities credits, as that is probably where I would be lower than average.

According to the HMC Catalogue, transfer equivalences are determined individually by each department. A standard semester lecture course at Harvey Mudd is 3 units, so I anticipate the standard quarter lecture course at your school would be equated to 2 units.

i wish it were, then my 25 units would be a lot more impressive. but alas, its 4 units for a regular class and +1 for a lab. but either way, its more out of concern that if i only take 10 weeks of bio here would it satisfy the 15 weeks of bio over there.

I would worry more about being able to transfer to HMC. Once you get in, it would be time to start worrying about transfer credits, etc.

yeah, i understand that; just trying to get some ideas early on in order to figure out how to "maximize" my spring quarter. im taking 25-34 units and wanna know if i need to sub out some upperdivision math classes for some more humanities.

and although i know hmc is hard to transfer into, your dean said i had a very good shot, especially since i got in for UD admissions. (he even offered to let me just resubmit the essays etc.)

Well, then you're golden. I'm sure that you will receive due credit for your work. You shouldn't worry about it; they will deal with it on a class by class basis. If you know you're stuff, you'll be able to pass a lot of stuff. But if you don't... oiy...
