Transfer question?

okay so i recieved my acceptance pack last weekend to SAS.which i was thrilled about...but then when i read the material inside it confuesed me....Okay so i am graduating from a nj community college this may with 64 credits and all the prereqs for the NEw Brunswick Business school...THe material on the inside of the package said i got into the SAS but i could apply to the business school in july...

Now my question is does anyone know if the second letter that says i could apply to the business school in july means for the Fall semester or if i was just flat out rejected from the business school this time?.. Is it normal for an incoming transfer that is coming in as a junior to get this?......any responses would be fanstastic because i am going crazy here...thanks

Hey center887, I am at the same place like you. I was admitted to SAS but want to go to Business school in New Brunswick. I talked to somebody from the business school so I know pretty much how it works.

It's quite annoying because being accepted to SAS doesn't guarantee us an acceptance to the business school. As it said on the paper starting July 1st we have to come to the office and pick up a paper application that we have to submit by August something....then they will let us know if we got in by August 23rd. They also told me that the finance major is closed now for enrollment, which sucks because I wanted to major in Finance.

BTW, I am also transferring to junior year from CC in PA.

Here's the email from them so you have a better picture.

In order to be eligible to apply to the Business School-New Brunswick (RBS-NB) undergraduate program, students must first be admitted to Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) in New Brunswick, so the first step would be to apply to this school through the admissions website: Rutgers University Undergraduate Admissions. If you are applying for fall 2008 admission, the deadline is January 15, 2008 for a priority date notification of April 15, 2008. Students who receive notification of admission to SAS for fall 2008 and who will also have all of the eligibility requirements for admission to the Business School-New Brunswick completed prior to the start of the fall 2008 semester should submit a Business School-New Brunswick application between July 1-August 8, 2008. This application will be a paper application which can be obtained at the address below beginning July 1, 2008. Decision notifications for RBS-NB will go out between August 20-23, 2008.

Then, I talked to them some more and got this info

If you will have finished all the requirements by August 15, 2008, then you can submit an application to the Business School between July 1-August 8, 2008 for fall 2008 admission. Paper applications (no online applications are available) will be available in this office beginning July 1. The admitting GPA will not be lower than a 3.300, and could be higher. In addition, the finance major is currently closed to further enrollment, which means that you may not be able to major in this area.

And last email about available spaces

We usually admit approximately 30 direct transfer admits to the Business School at the end of August. All students who are admitted will be registered for the business courses that they need for the major into which they are admitted for the fall semester.

Although the finance major is currently closed, there is always the possibility that we will space will open up through attrition, but we cannot guarantee that this will be the case.

Hope, it helps!! And Good luck!! What do you wanna major in?

i was going to major in finance but i guess now i should rethink that......by the way thanks for all the info!!

No problem.
Well, I still hope that the finance major will reopen so when I get my application, I will just put down "finance major"

I don't think it's fair that they fill it with only Rutgers students and don't leave anything open for transfers, rrr
