Transfer Question!!

Hi, I am planning on transferring from a CC in Manhattan for spring 09. I was hoping some of you might be able to give me a little bit of objective feedback.

Stats:
GPA 3.67 at Columbia University Summer Session ( I took a law course and got A-)
GPA 3.95 at BMCC
GPA 2.6 when I graduated high school (disaster)

I have completed 41 credits in a year and will take 16 more during the fall.

I basically spent my whole life training to be a professional ballet dancer and went to boarding school, for my last two years of high school. I also took a year off to train for ballet and received an apprenticeship. I realized I wanted to go to college and ballet wouldn't make me happy as a career so here I am...

EC's are pretty much ballet and a financial literacy program. I help teach high school students about finance and how to make smart financial choices.
I also work as a part time babysitter/ exhibition staff at an auction house and will hopefully have an internship for the fall.

My recommendations should be very strong. My professor from Columbia will be writing me a letter of recommendation as well as, my finance professor from last semester. He is also in charge of the literacy program.

I really want to go to a very good school. After going to Columbia this summer I can't imagine being anywhere else.

The places I plan on applying are: Columbia GS, Barnard, NYU, Fordham, Baruch, GWU, BU, Vassar, and maybe Villanova.

Do you think these schools are within my range? Do you have an suggestion of where I can apply ( I do not want to go very far from NYC)?

Any feedback would be appreciated!

I think you have a shot at all of those schools. Columbia and Vassar are going to be reaches, but I think you'll get into most of the other schools.

I like your list. Do you need to submit SAT/ACT scores for any of those schools? If so, how are your scores?

Absent that, I think you have a good list and will have some nice acceptances.

I do need SAT scores for Columbia GS, Vassar, and I think NYU? I am taking the ACT test in september. Standardized testing has never been my thing but I think I should be able to do well proficiently well (I have been studying A LOT and doing tutoring).

Any other comments!?

NYU will not take that score because you have more than 1 year of college. You can still apply without a score though. You might want to check the other schools that require it and make sure you can still take it, because some others are like NYU in that they won't take scores post HS or after a certain amount of college coursework has been completed. Most of those will allow you to still apply though (if not all of them). The reason for this is that the SAT and ACT are designed to be taken by HS students.

I have been hearing that NYU admissions rates were very low for the fall 08 transfers. Do you think I have a solid chance for admissions?

New EC--> I am also going to be mentoring incoming freshman to BMCC this fall.
