Are any people here transfer students to BC or have friends who are transfer students? I would like to know about the transition for students once transferring there. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I was a transfer!! The transfer selection committee is absolutely WONDERFUL and so unbelievably helpful, I couldn't even believe it. Even Student Services (aka financial aid) extended deadlines and allowed me to stay enrolled in classes even when my full tuition was WAY past due since I was a January transfer. Transfers are also assigned a mentor (fellow transfer) who is available to help you out with anything...learning about dining halls, libraries, everything else. The transfer admissions committee sets up little events like going to hockey games and stuff like that that any transfers can get involved in, and they're really available any time you need help.

Do you have any more specific questions?

I'm also considering transferring to BC, but for the 2009 fall semester. Is it much harder to get in/more competitive if you transfer for fall?

There are more applicants, but also many many more spots. I think they might have said during transfer orientation that it's more difficult to get in for the Spring, but I'm sure it's close. Don't change semesters you'll apply just because of statistics. If the transfer committee thinks you're a good fit for BC, you'll get in. That's really it. They REALLY know the people they accept...when I went to orientation and checked in they said "Oh! You're the one blah blah blah" and rattled off some of my activities and interests. They legitimately take the time to read through the lines on the apps...so don't just put things that you think will "get you in" that you don't mean. Be genuine.

that's really helpful, thanks! btw, would u mind sharing some of ur stats? If you don't, I understand. But I'm trying to gauge how competitive I would be for a BC transfer applicant. I looked online at their website and I think I would be, but it's hard to tell from the brief statistics that they share.
