How difficult is it for a junior transfer to fit in at Duke? Since it is a year where many people are scattered off campus and such, would I feel isolated? Also, since things like camping out in K-ville are such big attractions, I want to know that I can take part in these things if i end up at Duke.

You probably could partake in the great extra-curricular opportunities at Duke but I do think it would be difficult to meet people in your junior year. Although most are required to live on campus as juniors, Im sure most have already developed their core friendships by junior year. Im not saying it cant be done, just trying to let it be clear that it won't be like your a freshman all over again.

Also, and maybe more importantly, it should be noted that it isnt easy to transfer to Duke. In fact, it is CRAZY HARD and much more difficult to transfer in than it is to be accepted as a freshman. You basically need a flawless resume, great record from an Ivy/Ivy-equivalent from which you are transferring or both. Thats what I have gathered anyway, I dont know much about the transfer process, maybe someone else can help you out there. good luck!

yea i know it's ridiculously hard. I am in no way holding out hope that I get in. I am simply scouting the scene.

As long as you live on campus you shouldn't feel isolated. You'll know your transfer class through orientation and have that group to hang with initially. As for K-ville, note that's mostly an underclassmen thing.
