i'm currently a freshman at emory and i'm hoping to transfer to columbia.
i may either:
a) spend another year here and apply to transfer for my junior year or
b) take a year off to work and apply as a sophomore transfer

do you think the admissions people would look favorably upon my taking a year off? i wouldn't be sitting around, i'd be working, possibly in something related to my major.

also, what are my chances?
high school:
gpa: 3.86/4.0
sats: cr 750, m 720, w 800 = 2270
sat ii: literature 750, us history 740, bio-m 690
classes included APs and honors
ap scholar with honor
national merit letter of commendation
extracurriculars were good, including editor-in-chief of lit mag

college:
gpa: 3.65 (probably 3.75 when the semester ends next week)
wide array of classes
probably good recommendations
very involved on campus, including leadership positions for next semester

THANKS SO MUCH!
