Hey guys I currently have a 2.97. Yes it sucks I did get a D in one of my classes and I'm retaking it. I applied to all the UCs as well. I'm retaking that class this semester and a couple other classes and currently have A's or B's in them right now. My Science GPA weighed is like 3.1 I am a Bio major. I have my IGETC complete after this semester and currently am a member of MESA and AMSA. How badly will this affect my chances of getting accepted. I really want to go to UCSB.

do everything you can to boost your grades, and see what you can do to get in during winter 2010, which might still be possible. You should be thinking 3.3+ cumulative GPA.

GPA is kinda low, even tho UCSD claim they take transfer applicant have GPA 3.0 or above… but i think u still have a shot for UCSD… definitely will be in for UCR and UCM… not sure about UCSC… well… UCD, UCSB, UCI… i would say you have a slightly lower chance since your GPA is lower than 3.0… however, no matter what i said, u still need to do the best you can and maintain a better GPA

I think you’re in at UCSB. Your GPA is a bit on the low side, but my house mate last year had a 2.6 and was admitted. Their admit rate has been 70%+ for the past three years so I’d say it’s not looking so bad.

thanks guys, for sure after this semester i will have a 3.24 from what I calculated. I figured worse case scenario I can appeal and the dean of our CC (I know it doesn’t mean much) will write a letter of appeal/recommendation for me.

and regarding UCB and UCLA, I didn’t bother applying there or to Merced. I wasn’t planning on going there, I applied to UCD, UCSC, UCSB, UCSD, UCI!

thye dont care for letters of recommendation for uc app undergrad.

you can send 2 of them with an appeal, just none for regular admission
