Does it mean anything when your transferring from a higher ranked college to a bit lower ranked college? Do I have better chance than students transferring from community college or students coming from even lower colleges? Will they give you any leniency of having lower gpa at all, etc.?
Thanks

Because I really want to transfer to the colleges I am applying.

i’d guess that if you conveyed your interest through essays and such you’d be fine

How low do you think they will consider because my gpa is really low, but I think I have pretty good reason why I want to transfer into the colleges I am applying.

So do you think essay is the major decision maker in terms of transfer admission?

Nothing is really a “major deal breaker” as far as decisions go; many of them carry significant weight. Sure, there is an added weight towards GPA and test scores, as these reflect academic proficiency, but the essay also summarizes your purpose and control of the English language.

It is also a bit myopic to say that an alarmingly low performance instantly is adjusted depending on the school of attendance; if it is a similarly ranked school, the institution can extrapolate that academic performance will be somewhat similar
