Say hypothetically I want to transfer to UCSD, should I try to apply as a sophomore or as a junior? If I apply as sophomore, I will re-take my SAT in order to achieve a better score, but will the load of homework be a problem? Has anyone tried this is my question.

If you had or currently in this process, please tell me your perspective. Thanks in advance!

Also, I meant to say any good UC's, like SD, Irvine, Davis, LA, or Cal

1) you can only apply to the UCs if you are entering as a Junior for that fall (unit wise)
2) UCs do not look at your SAT scores

I heard you can apply to UC’s as a sophomore as well. Is that true? I’m befuddled

if you have 60+ units and meet all the requirements, then yes but you would be entering as a junior because of your units

you need 60 units completed (this is roughly equivalent to completing frosh and soph years). the english writing requirement completed and to be competitive you need the GEs for the UC in question to be completed. That said, the UC system is designed to facilitate transfer from california community colleges. Transferring from an 4 year college is quite difficult.

Yes, you can apply to the UCs as a sophmore, but you have to have enough transferable units and pre reqs finished (at least 60 semester units by the time you transfer or 90quarter)… if your trying to apply for the winter or spring quarter good luck. I don’t think any of the UCs are accepting any applicants… depending on your major. They use too though, but now I hear its because of the budget cuts =O. So applying in the fall as a sophmore transfer is really hard.

Thank you everyone for clearing up this confusion.
