Transfer questions need help

Hey, I'm a freshman right now attending my first semester at Saint Louis University. I'm going in for the medical field, but I suddenly realized this career path was not for me. It is pretty difficult and my grades are lacking. I no longer want to pursue this career. I want to drop out of this school by the end of this semester (Fall 2013). And then, I would like to resume school back in Fall 2014 at a college out of state, such as California (Cal Poly Pomona) for computer sciences. I was wondering if I would apply as a transfer student or would I apply as a freshman, due to not completing my freshman year? And would I be accepted? Thank you very much.

This is the UC Transfer section, most of the information here refers specifically to the UC system. CSU and UC are different school systems, and have different rules and stuff.

From a quick google search, you’d be considered a transfer applicant at Cal Poly: [Transfer Admissions for Undergraduates](http://www.csupomona.edu/~admissions/undergraduate/transfer/index.shtml)
As with the UC system, they want junior level transfers, so if you are considered a transfer (not a freshman) you’ll need to do a bit more school.

One option to consider would be going to a CC (particularly one in Calfornia) for your first two years, and then transferring after that. CCC students get priority for the UC system, and I assume priority for CSUs as well.

Or you could continue at your current school. You’ve only been there for one semester, surely it’s not too early to change your major. It also seems a bit early to decide you hate your school enough to transfer… you’ve only been there for a month or two, right? Sticking it out for a bit longer (or staying there while applying to transfer) might change your mind about the place.

You might also be able to find a school that’ll count you as a freshman, or one that accepts lower division transfers.
