Transfer questions...

I am considering applying to W&L as a transfer student (current sophomore at NYU, looking to transfer for fall 2011) and I have a few questions about the transfer process.

First off, does anyone know the acceptance rate of transfer students? Is it about the same criteria as it is for incoming freshman or do they look at applications more harshly?

Secondly, are there any programs designed to help integrate transfers into the student body/school (orientations, transfer groups, etc) or are you kinda just thrown right into the thick of things?

Additionally, I have A LOT of questions about campus life/students/W&L in general, but rather than bombarding the message boards with a litany of questions, I figured I could discuss them with people via PM. If anyone (preferably current students or recent alums) could message me and share some wisdom, I would be very grateful!

Recent alum here. W&L doesn’t get too many transfer students, but I knew several during my time and they had a great time and plenty of friends. You’ll get placed in one of the on-campus suites or apartments. I’m pretty sure transfers go through freshman orientation; there simply aren’t enough transfers to make an orientation of their own (as far as I know). I hope this helps. I can’t really speak to how hard it will be to be accepted. Pretty difficult, I would imagine.
