Transfer Questions

Hello. I am currently a college freshman looking to possibly transfer to the college next fall. I went to a very competitive high school but received mediocre grades (3.7 GPA, 29 ACT, 1890 SAT, 720 Literature & 740 U.S. History SAT II, and a 5 on Modern European History)
My questions...
1. Should I even report these grades from high school ? (3.7 GPA, 29 ACT, 1890 SAT, 720 Literature & 740 U.S. History SAT II, and a 5 on Modern Euro History)
2. Also, I am in the Honors program at my college so I am getting rid of my "gen eds" through classes called "Honors Cultural" and "Honors Environmental". These Honors classes cover things like English and science requirements. But the point is, I can change my schedule for next semester to drop out of the Honors Progam and not have my "Honors Social" class (description says it relates to writing essays on the cold war - so, history/english gen ed) Would you suggest dropping out and taking a regular history/english course instead ? I would like to be competitive in the admissions process but I would also like to receive credit if I am accepted. What should I do ?

There’s a whole section on their website about what classes to take to easily transfer! For me, I’m a freshman marketing major…and I’m supposed to be taking a bunch of business pre-reqs because that is what they do here. However, if I transfer…those pre-reqs wouldn’t transfer either. So I essentially had to risk not taking them in hopes that I’m accepted for the fall. Your honors stuff is fine, but I would look into an honors bio, chem, or geology with a lab. They mentioned that “liberal arts type sciences” aren’t viewed as strongly as lab sciences. It really depends what department it’s in. If cultural is cultural anthropology or world lit…that would probably give you transfer credit. I would try to take classes that you know would transfer, but before you plan your schedule…talk to an admissions dean because you don’t want to mess up your course sequence at your current college should you not be accepted at W&M and have to stay there.

I kinda messed up my course sequence by not taking the freshmen computing class for business majors, but I’m reallyyyy hoping I’m accepted for this fall because I purposely took classes that fulfill GERs.

We require a high school transcript for a transfer application so you’ll have to share your high school classes and grades with us. If you’ve completed two full-time semesters of college, standardized testing is optional.

As for the course you mentioned, we cannot speculate as to whether it would transfer but if you like your honors program we’d generally recommend staying in it assuming it allows you to take broad spectrum courses.
