I want to attend Notre Dame next year, after my Freshman year in college, but my high school GPA was really low ~3.0 UW ~3.4 W, I took like all honors and AP courses but I didn’t try at all. I recently got a 4.0 in college with 16 credits, should I wait to apply because my high school grades were so low?
Stats:
Intended major: Economics with Pre-Health Focus
Current college: Top 50 private university
College GPA: 4.0 so far (2 A+'s), will have 36 credits after freshman year (I know I can get another 4.0 or close)
HS GPA: W ~3.4 weakest part of application
ACT: 31
ECs: Lots of business/economics clubs in college, no leadership positions though. A few computer clubs. Teaching myself German and Italian (don’t know if I can post this in the app though).
LOR: Will submit two, both will be very good, both will be from professors I had this past semester.
Notre Dame Supplement Essay: Very well written, shows I’ve researched the school quite a bit, gives great reasons to attend
We have similar stats which is cool. I would say you’re fine, but considering you only have final grades for 16 credits and that midterm reports don’t tell you all that much… You will probably get waitlisted and then if you keep the 4.0, most likely an acceptance. Im at a CC in my state right now and I’m in the same boat as you. 3.0-3.4 GPA in HS with lots of AP’s, but I didn’t try all that hard. My SAT is in the 1400s/1600 and I have 35 credits of transferable courses by the time I apply. Only difference is CC’s allow for accelerated courses so my final grades will come in for them to see. That’s why I’m expecting a waitlist in your case then an acceptance in the end. You may get lucky and avoid the waitlist and get in straight through, but a straight out rejection is pretty unlikely in your case to be completely honest. I’m for a bit easier run than you FYI. I’m applying to a top state school
@uvact123 Hey! Thanks for the response! Notre Dame claims they make decisions after final grades come in, so hopefully this will benefit me. We should keep each other posted for acceptances and such!
