I am quite confused about some of the materials on Common App.
First, I’ll start with the College Report. I know that dean of academics or students needs to fill this out. However, I’ll be applying 10 schools and will I make them fill out 10 reports or just fill once and copy the rest? Also, is mailing only way to send this report to the schools?
Second, secondary school final report. What is the difference between official high school transcript and this report? All schools on my list never mentioned this document on their websites. That means I will just ignore this?
Third, midterm report. Do I need to send this report before the deadlines? Because some of my midterms are after deadlines or are in the same week. Also, do my professor need to fill out 10 reports or just once? Lastly, how can I submit this report to colleges?
I have asked these questions to my colleges and still pending for a reply. Any advice or help will be appreciated.
I don’t know if this is too late for me to be answering, but I am undergoing the transfer application process myself so I am somewhat familiar with the answers to your questions…
My school had a form you download from their website to request your College Report. It asks how many College Reports you need, and the addresses to which they should be sent. The form itself limited it to requests for four schools, but you could fill out additional forms if you needed more than four College Reports. I filled it out accordingly, and then dropped it off at the Registrar’s Office. They took care of the rest (mailing it, etc). I assume that your school should be the same, in that you list those ten schools’ addresses and then have them mail it.
The official high school transcript lists your grades and courses throughout high school. Your secondary school final report is filled out by your counselor. It includes information on class rank, class size, cumulative GPA, and so on. To me, it seemed like the final report was more of a contextual tool for colleges to see where your performance in high school was next to other students. You should ask your counselor to fill this out. Some schools, like Tufts, don’t require this, but others do, so just make sure that it is needed.
The midterm report is usually filled out in Mid-Late March when you have had some assignments/assessments graded in your courses. Some schools don’t even start reviewing applications until April, so don’t worry about the time difference between submitting your application and submitting the Transfer Midterm Report. I believe that you just print one version of this form from the Common App website and have all of your professors fill out their respective sections, and then upload a picture of it to your application portal. A lot of the application portals for the schools I applied to have a section to upload it. Other schools asked me to email it to them, and others don’t even use it. It varies, but it seems like the schools that request it prefer electronic uploads.
I hope this helps! Good luck!! Additionally, since I am also a transfer applicant, if anybody would like to correct any of this information, please go ahead! I am by no means an expert; this is just what I found to be true in my own experience
