i'm currently a high school senior and i'm having a really hard time deciding between two colleges (NYU and northeastern university). although it might be a little too early/pessimistic for me to consider transferring, i want to get things straight before i make a finalized decision. the thing is, i'm leaning towards NYU because i've grown up in MA and i think it'd be a good experience for me to get out of my homestate. however, if worst comes to worst and i end up hating it there (i get homesick so easily), i'd consider transferring back to MA next year and go to northeastern. both have accepted me this year, but would it look bad on my transfer application if i decide to go to northeastern after declining it for NYU this year? would there be a chance of being automatically readmitted without having to go through an entire transfer process? thanks!

As long as you have a good reason, even if it is fabricated, I don't see you having any problems transferring if you need to.

but none of the scholarships i received this year as an incoming freshman would be considered if i'm a sophomore transfer next year? because the scholarship i received was for all 4 years. and could i be guaranteed automatic acceptance as a transfer if i've already been accepted before?

All things considered, NYU is a far superior institution IMO.

Cavs is right but if you hate the location that doesn't really matter.

i don't hate the location, i'm worried that i WILL hate the location lol. and typically, do transfers get less scholarships than freshmen?

Choose carefully. I got rejected as a transfer from some schools that accepted me eagerly as a freshman (I didn't do anything drastic in the year that elapsed to merit the rejections either). Although I don't predict you will have any problems, try to choose the best fit for you now since transfer financial aid is generally not good.

I think it's much harder for transfers to get scholarships, especially at a school like NYU. And Cavs is right - Northeastern isn't even in the same league as NYU.

NYU is more well known and respected...

^ yea, that's what everyone has been telling me. but there are pros/cons to both.. if anyone wants to help/have nothing better to do, i'd be very appreciative!
