Hey I'm contemplating transferring. I'm in my first semester at a first tier national university. I'm thinking of transferring to some ivy leagues and smaller liberal arts colleges. (I would like a more intimate atmosphere). Several questions:
1. In terms of course rigor, someone mentioned that entry-level courses are understandable given the fact that we will have only completed 1-3 semesters of college. That said, I am taking a course on Plato and Freud, an Islamic history class, a mandatory writing course, and elementary italian in addition to a 0-unit honors seminar. Rigorous enough or wait a year to apply?
2. I am in the Honors program at my current . Will this work in my favor?
3. My school is very large; there is only one professor who I feel will write a really strong letter. How good do these rec letters have to be? In high school, I had long relationships with the ones who wrote my letters.
4. I already applied to some of the schools I want to reapply to and was waitlisted. Will this adversely affect the outcome?
5. Also, how strong do extracurriculars have to be? I am not involved in sports or anything like I was in high school. I do, however, work part time (10 hours a week), am a member of the Best Buddies club (community service which i was also involved with in high school) and tutor weekly for 3 hours to underperforming elementary school students. I'm in the honors program and attend extra lectures and stuff too.

Sorry for the massive amount of questions!

I forgot to add also
how much does high school affect the transfer process? I ended my high school year very strong and was in the top 3% or so of my graduating class. Does that matter at all? Or is it purely college grades?
