Transfer Questions

Hello everyone, this is my first post so if this is not in the correct place please feel free to move it wherever it needs to be. I am a freshmen at Saint Louis University in Madrid studying international business. I have been thinking about transfering after this year is over. I am originally from Philadelphia so I have been looking into schools in that area (Villanova, Temple, Drexel). However, I want to learn French so I am also considering going to France for a year to learn French. I wanted to know if anyone had any information/opinions about the American University of Paris. I have received their packets of information but they never tell the truth... So I wanted to know if I would be better served if I came home and studied in Philadelphia and took French classes or if I transferd to Paris and then back to Philadelphia. As for schools in Philadelphia I am thinking my best option of the three schools (Villanova, Temple, and Drexel) my best option would be Villanova. If anyone could offer me some advice I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

I don't have any advice for you, sorry, but I am looking at SLU Madrid and was wondering why you don't like it? Thanks!

Although you could learn French both ways, living in Paris would be much better. You would get more chances to communicate with the people who actually speak French. You will learn French in about 4-5 months where in Philadelphia it would take you longer

Thankyou for your response YatH. Im most likely going to transfer back to Philadelphia next year and then do a years long study abroad in Paris. I agree, learning French from the natives would be the best option for me.

well to what end to you want to pursue French? Is it intrical to your career goals? Do you intend to move to France or a French speaking country? If France or French arent particularly germaine to your career goals, I would consider transferring sooner rather than later

im also looking at transfering to one of those 3 schools, villanova, temple, drexel...........i just dont know how i would afford villanova or drexel...? any ideaas?

if the cost of Drexel is a concern, then you should maybe reconsider AUP as well. while Drexel is notorious for its inadequate financial aid, the au in paris is no better if not worse--especially considering housing is not provide and Paris is just an exorbitantly expensive city to live in.

my advice would be to find a philly-area college but to take FULL advantage of study/summer abroad

Living in the country where the language is spoken is ALWAYS the best way to learn. It supplements classroom learning enormously. I took French all through high school but I never truly became fluent until I came to AUP. It still took a few months but there's no way I could have achieved this level only living in the States.

drexel-just don't do it
