Hi I am an international student and I really want to come to brynmawr…I even applied this year as a freshman…but was rejected …( Well i dont really have stellar highschool transcript…my mid year grades were pathetic.)…But after that I strted working hard…and now I am hoping to transfer to bryn mawr…since i am not much in lov with the college i am going to be attending…

Can anyone plz give me suggestions … wat shud i do to stand out in the transfer pool? and is it better if I transfer as a sophomore or a junior? does bryn mawr hav any preferences…do they prefer juniors to sophomores or vice-versa?.. any datas…would be welcome…

A friend of mine transferred here after her first semester! The earlier you transfer the better. If you transfer in as a junior, you might have a hard time getting all the college graduation requirements done on time; and you wouldn’t have much time to get to know professors in the department before you start working on a thesis and ask for letters of recommendations for job or graduate school applications, etc. You also wouldn’t have the option to study abroad if that’s something you are interested in.

I don’t know if that’s a factor or not, but you should also be aware that Bryn Mawr does not have much financial aid for international transfer students. I think international transfers only qualify for financial aid if they transfer from another American college.

I will be attending an american college…and I do want to transfer as soon as I can … But I am worried that I will just have one college semester to show on my transcript and my highschool record will still play a huge role…( my final grades are good but I am worried abt the Ds I got in my mid year… although I did show a constant improvement in the exams after that)…

It’s great to hear yr friend transferring after her first semester…can u tell me how her gpa was in high school?..it must have been better than mine…btw did she apply as a freshman?---- I did and got rejected…but I like to think the rejection was mostly due to the pathetic supplements I wrote. :(

I’m in the same position! I’m an international student. I’ve never applied to BMC before, but I’m currently attending to a community college!!! My grades in HS sucked, but my grades got really good once I got here to the US (So far I have a 4.0 GPA)! I applied as a transfer student (Junior)…

I’ll let you know how it works! (I’m crossing my figers, and also i hope i can get financial aid)
