I am 23 years old and I am looking to transfer from my local community college in Wisconsin. I did bad my first time in school three years ago and now I am back in school and getting A's in all of my classes. When I apply to transfer i will be at about 55 credits completed (a 1.5 GPA on 30 credits completed three years ago and a 3.8 GPA on 25 credits this time around). I work full time and go to school part time. I am looking to major in Astronomy/Physics and I will have completed three semesters of calculus, one semester of linear algebra/differential equations and one year of university physics before i transfer (with a gpa of around 3.6 in those classes). I am looking at UW-Madison and Case Western. Do you think i can get into these schools? Are there any other schools with good astronomy programs I should apply to? Are schools forgiving of older students who struggled when they attended school when they were younger?
