Transfer Questions

Here's the situation:

I'm matriculating at UNC Chapel Hill as a freshman this fall. While it's a great school, it's not going to provide me with the career opportunities that I desire (iBanking on the Street). Unfortunately I didn't get accepted to any Ivies straight out of high school, so I'm hoping to transfer either next spring or fall (2011).

-In terms of admission rates, is it easier to transfer in the spring or fall?
-What Ivy or pseudo-Ivy schools offer spring transfer?
-If denied admission for the spring, can you reapply in the fall during the same year?
-What are some things I can do during my freshman year while at UNC to maximize my chances for transfer admission, aside from keeping a 4.0?

I acknowledge these are basic questions, and I'm searching the forums as we speak, but it'd also be nice to have some feedback here. More questions to come...

it’s generally easier to transfer in the fall. there are several good schools that take spring transfers, but not freshmen. cornell and brown offer spring transfers (but for brown you still need to apply with the fall applicants). you can apply again for the fall. i wouldn’t recommend applying as a spring transfer as a freshman anywhere, though. as a sophomore, sure, and then you can use fall '11 as a cushion in case you don’t get in where you want.
