So I attended ucsd for a year and a quarter and then transferred to a community college because of financial issues. 2 years later i want to transfer back but i think i have more than 70 units, although some units i got at CC does not go toward my major, what will happen when i apply for readmission? does the max unit limit still apply to me?

The unit cap for those applying to transfer whom have previously attended a four year university is 90 semester units at UCSD. 70 is the maximum amount of units you can get credit for once you enroll. For example, if you have 100 UC transferable units from CC, you’ll only get credit for 70 semesters units (105 quarter units) once you’re enrolled. You’ll start as a junior instead of as a senior with 100 units. The same applies with those that have attended four years, although you have to be under 90 units of four year + CC to be eligible for admission. It’s effectively so that you’re required to take at least 2 years worth of courses before you graduate. Also, any units in classes designated UC-transferable from your CC will count toward your cap, regardless of your major. Check your course catalog or ASSIST.org to see which will. Also, if you’ve already attended UCSD you should contact admissions. Sometimes, there are different policies for those that have left a university and are trying to re-enroll.
