So I checked my mailbox today and saw a letter from NYU (gasp), but noticed that this was the first correspondence I have received from NYU since I submitted my application. The letter contains a clause that reads, "As you now look forward to becoming an integral part of our diverse community, you have much to consider". The letter also contains other clauses that indicate my acceptance.

Has anyone else had this experience and received further correspondence? I am freaking out right now!!! LOVE NYU, I'd appreciate any feedback.

Max

LAXKID,

This sounds like the same letter my son received just yesterday and since we have sent in his tuition and housing deposits. However, sonny had received a formal acceptance package, Scholars w/e and CAS New Students Reception invitations before this letter from FA. He will be a Freshman for 2010-2011.

I’m wondering if you have somehow missed some key correspondence? You should call up the Admissions Office.

I’m sure the dates are different for correspondence with transfers than incoming freshman. Perhaps the USPS is simply delivering the letters later?

Has any other transfer received this “we look forward to helping you with financial aid” letter before actually receiving their acceptance packet? Or have you received the acceptance and this letter and in what order?

Well, what I was saying is that this letter comes at the tail end of the Admissions process for sonny. He first heard about his acceptance to NYU 3/8/10. This FA letter was received yesterday, 4/14/10. Yet you received this letter before any other correspondence. And around the same time as an incoming Freshman. Normally correspondence to transfers should be later, no? So somehow you as a Transfer applicant have received a FA Office letter at the same time as a Freshman applicant.

However, the main point here appears to be that you have been admitted, if this is not a mistake. Your name and address are typed in at the top of the letter from FA, right?.

Yes, my name and address is typed in the top left. What does that indicate in your opinion? The website also states that some acceptance letters and correspondence will be sent out before the general transfer notification period of early to mid may. It’s just very odd that I would get this letter first. I did, however, submit my application very early.

It looks to me like you are an admitted transfer student who received early notification via the FA Office letter. This letter from FA is definitely for admitted students to consider options for payment of NYU tuition and fees.

So, a congrats to you may not be too premature, especially since you said some transfer admitted students would be notified early.

Laxkid, I am also a transfer applicant. Would you mind tell me that when did you apply? Where do you live? What is your stats? And which school you applied to?

Yeah, I would really like to know when you applied, what school you applied to, and what your stats are. I applied as a transfer around January, and even though I didn’t apply for FA, I’m dying to hear aaaanything from NYU.

Congrats if you got in though, that’s awesome.

So I called the admissions office today and I have been accepted!!! So exciting. I am not comfortable posting all of my statistics because I strongly believe they do not paint an accurate picture of an applicant. This culture of comparing “statistics” on CC saddens me; I do not like to see people define themselves in this way. However, I will say that I currently have a 3.87 GPA and I am extremely active in leadership and administrative roles in clubs at the University, specifically within the school of business. I applied to the Gallatin School, and I will be studying finance and acting at Stern and Tisch simultaneously as well as creating my own major centered around these two subjects. I was very specific in what I wanted to study and why in my essay, and included various characteristics of myself that make me very unique and explained how I could utilize them to add to the community at NYU.

If anyone has any further questions, feel free to post them. NYU 2013!!!

Congratsssss that’s awesome. Did they say if it was a mistake or not, or did they intentionally send your FA packet first?

The early arrival of the financial aid letter (it was not a packet and did not include any individualized details regarding my award) was unintentional. The acceptance packet was supposed to arrive first, but because it was heavier it is just taking extra time to arrive. Still so extremely excited!

I applied to Tisch drama as a transfer student. They said that I would not hear anything until the first week of May if I get in or not. It’s the end of April now… should I be worried yet?

I think you can read your question and answer that for yourself. No, you should not be worried. Clearly, if they said you won’t hear anything until the first week of May, you still have time. You’ll know your decision when it arrives; until then, live life normally.
