transfer residence halls

I can't seem to find too much information on the transfer residence halls. I know that theres san rafael and manzanita but I never knew anything about the suites in san rafael. I was doing my housing application and I dont know where to find information on either dorm. Is San Rafael a hall with all suites, just a difference in 8-6-4 people? Are the prices the same for all residence halls with the only difference being single-double-triple for roomates?

All prices are same, unless it’s a: double, triple, or single (single being the most expensive and triple being the least). Before I sent in my contract, I saw that it’s 6 & 8 people per ONE bathroom (that’s going to get gross real quick).

I think I read somewhere that the living rooms in the suites are about small to average–the bedrooms are a bit small as well. Manzanita has the biggest rooms. I think you should base everything on what you’re hoping to gain. Are you an extrovert that wants to be around people 24/7? Then you should probably go for the 6 or 8 suite in San Rafael. Manzanita is also the most antisocial residence hall, so I think it’ll be the best option if you’re introverted so that you don’t go crazy. Or the doubles in San Rafael.

BTW, an extrovert is someone who gets energy from being around people and an introvert is someone who gets exhausted from being around people for more than an hour or two. I would base it all on how you’ll feel and what would make you the happiest :)

Toodles.

is manzanita really that anti social? like how hard would it be to make friends there? I am also a transfer student and obviously want to make many friends

^^I think it depends on the person. If you’re going to sit in your room all day, then yea… But I highly doubt you’re going to just lounge around in your dorm room. I think everyone should be fine if they socialize outside of their dorms.

Can someone give me there opinion as to what it is like living at a Residence hall? I have seen those prices, and I don’t know if it is monthly or not, (thats one of my questions), and I heard the food is terrible.

I have my heart set on appartments (FAR away from IV, I am serrious about my edu.) or community houseing, but I have never really given the halls a chance.

If someone could give me a comparison on these three housing options (minus how the halls are conveintly placed on campus), that would set my mind at ease.

Thanks

Hey!

So the residence halls can be paid quarterly or monthly or yearly.

I strongly recommend going for manzanita. Really quite, close to the food in IV and campus. Dining Commons are incredibly good, especially the one in manzanita.

@munaluna Thank you so much! I’m so glad you told me about the bathroom situation. I’ve had my own bathroom my whole life and cannot even imagine sharing one with 7 other people.
