Hey everyone,

I was recently admitted to the College of Arts and Sciences at Penn as a Chem. major. However, a while after I submitted my application to the school, I decided that following the chemical engineering route may be more beneficial to me.

Do you know if it is possible to transfer from the College of Arts and Sciences to the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences before I enroll as a freshman?

Any help would be great! Thanks!

You need a 3.0 to transfer and you fill out an application at the end of freshman year. My suggestion, if you know you are smart (gpa-wise), pick your second semester courses as if you were a ChemE. That way, you dont fall behind. Here’s my recommendation for first semester.

Math 104 (if you have BC calc credit, then 114)
Chem 101
Phys 140 (150 if you want to be premed)
Social science or humanities
Some introductory engineering course

Then second semester, you take
Math 114 or (240 if you took 114 already)
Chem 102
Phys 141 (151 if you premed)
CBE 160
Elective

So I would be unable to transfer before I would start classes at Penn?

And, provided that a student is looking to transfer and has a GPA above a 3.0, how hard would it be to transfer at the end of freshman year?
