Transfer schools help...

I am currently attending a CC in the state of Virginia. My number one choice for a school to transfer to is UVa, and I obviously am aware of their admission agreements and so fourth. However, I am trying to line up the other schools I will apply to, and was wondering if there are any schools that stick out to anyone as places that simply do not like to take CC students. A while back I heard from someone that Duke does not usually accept CC transfers...true?

Some of the other schools I was thinking about are:
Cornell
Penn
Columbia
Vanderbilt
Stanford
George Washington
Johns Hopkins

I am obviously aware that some of these, if not all, may be extreme reaches, but I figure I may as well try my luck, as that is the only way to ever be considered.

if u dont post your stats, who can offer advice?

I am asking for any information on the trends of these schools in terms of accepting qualified CC students. I am more concerned with the stats of the students they've accepted than you should be with mine, as this is not in any way a post asking for my chances. Otherwise I would most certainly have posted my stats. Thanks.

You can go to USNews and look on their universities rankings. While their transfer admission stats published there (applicants, accepted and matriculated), they don't publish the stats of the accepted transfer students (it might be b/c each case has its own context beyond GPA, but GPA might be used to weed out the weak).

Furthermore, I think that the best way to find the stats of transfer students to any/all of the schools above is just to search this forum, I'm certain that you'll find at least a couple of examples from each school on your list.

A word of advice, don't look what others did/didnt do focus on your own task and accomplishing it in the best possible way you can.

Well, I think UVA is definitely your best bet.

I know George Washington is very transfer friendly, while Stanford hates us with all of their heart. Seriously less than 1% get offered admission.

Vandy and JHU should be tough, but probably not as tough as the ivys. JHU took like 70something out of 600. Not the best chances.

Did you have a gap year or are otherwise non-traditional? If so Columbia GS is a great way for students at community colleges who wouldn't normally get offered admission at Columbia College to back in, but it's not just "Oh, didn't get into to Columbia? Here try GS." You have to have something 'non-traditional'.

Cornell's the most transfer friendly among the ivys, but the friendliest kid in his anger management group is still pretty mean.

Best of luck. :).

Oh, and what's your intended major? If you don't mind me asking.

Thanks for your advice. I am most likely going to major in Biology, although I'm still considering Biochemistry...and doing Pre-med.
