Transfer Statistics - UC ONLY

Ok. I am wondering how you got accepted to uci and ucsd. without the math requirement completed. you said you needed stats for igetc completion and this is why you failed to be accepted to ucla and ucsb, yet you got into uci and ucsd. I think you need the math requirement completed to be accepted to any uc.

I was taking the stats course that spring, but most campuses require that you complete your IGETC reqs before spring. The only thing I can guess is that UCSD and UCI made an exception for me. I feel bad that I snubbed them.

UCSD is booorrring

WHAT? COMPLETE THE IGETC BEFORE SPRING=requirement?
Isn't it before we transfer or at the end of spring?

I attend smc, and it's quite an interesting school. People say it has great reputations b/c people get accepted to top schools for undergrad and even grads ( a lot of med/law school acceptances). The sciences have great reputations. I have no idea where that personal from el camino heard that. It's not rare to c people commute 120+ miles a day just to attend smc, eventhough there are 3 ccc that are closer to them. It also draws a ton of international students from all around the world, who pay like 300 dollars a unit.

But, all these things have made the school pretty inconvinient to attend. Parking at 9AM-12 PM can take up to an hour to find. Good classes fill up fast in some subjects like science. Very crowded campus. Book store lines take hours too.

complete IGETC before spring!??!? I don't believe that's correct.

Depends on the school. The thing is, you will not be finished with the req-class by the time admissions decisions are handed out. If you don't pass, you don't get in, and they will have denied other qualified applicants who were IGETC certified. But I guess if you really impress them, they may make an exception for you. A counselor told me that UCSB is really trying to beef up their reputation, and are going to stop admitting students who have not finished all requirements by spring. UCLA already employs this policy, along with UCB, and I think UCSD. UCI called me and asked if I was taking stats, and if I was confident that I would pass. I said yes, and literally the next day I was accepted on the admissions site.

Highschoolda-
You should park down on pearl and 24th street by Grant elementary school. It's free, and only a few blocks away from the campus. I've been going there for three years now, I know all the tricks.
Buy your books at A&R across the street. If they do not have some of your books, just wait a week or two until the lines die down.

Exactly what happened for me for UCI AND UCSB, only it was in the form of an email.

pirateslife, where did you get your info from? I have never heard of any of the UCs asking for IGETC to be completed before spring semester.

It sounds like you have just heard this about the math requirement, which I think is true. I know several people who got rejected, or got in on appeals because they waited until their last semester to take math. I guess so many people put it off because they can't do it that UCLA and Berkeley assume you won't get a good grade in it.

wildestbeest, he proly heard it from the same source that told him that some CCC are elite and some have low chance to be accepted.

Anyhow, as for igetc by spring sounds pointless. UC never ask that on an application. why would they care? if u don't complete it by spring and u said u did, they'll just revoke ur admission.

When I was at Smc, I always paid 5 bucks to park in Lot 2. :( My class meeted once a week, so I could afford it. Take evening class is better, cuz you can park in lot 1. Adding class is much eaiser than in PCC. Smc's classes will take everyone eventually, but in pcc, you need to win the draw to get a spot. If the class had lab section, you can't add at all.

GPA: 3.8
Major: History and English minor in French
IGETC-almost certified
