then apparently you can't see who's genuinely nice.. because I really did respect you before this.

georgetown might, but the ivies wont

georgetown might, but the ivies wont

Such a silly statement, but it matters not; for I am not transferring anywhere.

You are not 'stooping low'. It is apropos to correct one's grammar. Where is the infelicity? Show it, I will apologize and make a mental note of it, and move on... it is that simple.

ok

Though excessive vanity in oneself may make you see situations differently

There is a parallelism error here.

I'd rather see big words than 'with' abbreviated w/ or six exclamation points after every sentence.

"georgetown might, but the ivies wont"

lol...

please do not tell me that you actually speak like this? i mean i can barely bear your writing without vomiting... i'd really feel for the georgetown community if you actually spoke like this

I can see the error, but according to my grammar text, it would not be classified as one of parallelism.

Also, if it is parallelism, my grammar text only classifies it as an error in 'clarity', not in grammar.

lol...

Please do not tell me you speak like this. For if you do, I truly pity the souls who must endure such torture.

How exactly would you vocalize 'lol' in the first place?

<whisper>*
princeton does accept transfers . . . they just tend to be recruited athletes*</whisper>

Haha, I can't believe this thread is still alive.

Anyway, that's not a parallelism error--just one of pronouns. I think it was tested on the SAT II Writing test.

And, by the way, nobody says "lol"; in real life, we can just laugh. Don't see why you're getting so uptight about it..

That is what I was thinking.

I was being facetious.

what the **** is going on? i read this thread because i wanted to obtain valueable information about transfer statistics, not some *****fest about rhetoric and argumentation.

anyway, does anyone have any insight as to why stanford's acceptance rate in particular in comparison is so low? I was under the impression stanford was the most 'transfer-friendly' of the ivies. is it just this year? or is this a continuing trend?

I do not know from where you derived that impression.

oh wait... is parallelism when you have lists that aren't agreeable? Like

"I like screwing, effing and make whoopee?" => screwing, effing and making whoopee?

Yes.

~filler~

I emailed Stanford's admissions staff and they sent me an email saying:

"Our transfer admission process is extremely competitive, and we typically admit only 8% to 10% of around 1,200 applicants each year."

From what I have seen, about 50 students of the admitted class matriculate every year. Those statistics aren't very high, which would mean that they aren't very transfer friendly. They are comparable to Dartmouth and Columbia, whereas the transfer rates for Harvard and Yale are considerably less, and UPenn, Brown, and Cornell are much higher.

I would think Yale is significantly easier to transfer into then stanford.

Not from what I've heard and the stats I've seen around this board and on the internet.
