I’m trying to transfer to UCB on a psych major from a CCC but I noticed how difficult that is and how highly impacted that major is at UCB. Can you change your major once you’ve transferred? I was thinking of applying to UCB for American Studies with an emphasis on psychology but I don’t know if that would be easier - I’ve been trying to find information on it but so far sol. I have a 4.0 in my second year of cc with no extracurriculars. I am an international student though (Canada) and was curious to know if this is beneficial to my app or if it makes no difference? I guess I am just looking for advice - anyones $0.02. I am also applying to UCD, UCLA, UCSC, UCSB, and UCSD - but UCB is my top choice. Please give me any experience you’ve had - any advice you think would be helpful thank you
https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major can help you with admission stats.
http://psychology.berkeley.edu/students/undergraduate-program/major-requirements describes applying to the major once admitted to UCB L&S.
You can use this link for the Transfer UC GPA admit range for all the UC campuses by major. Hopefully this helps:

I don’t have any specific knowledge on this subject, but most colleges expect students to declare their majors before their junior year, and switching it after entering as a junior could be tricky.
You can sometimes change majors but only within the school/college your major is attached to. For instance… If you’re accepted to the College of Letters and Sciences you can’t magically switch to a major at Haas. Changing majors after transfer is looked down upon at Berkeley from my understanding.
