Transfer-Stay at institution, other options

I am currently a Second Semester Sophmore at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY and financially I am very stable at this institution, I will leave with likely less than 20thousand dollars in loans. Yet I am very unhappy at this school and just seem to be very bored at times, socially and academically. My gpa is currently only about a 2.8 because of various personal issues and I applied to be a transfer student at Syracuse Univ. for the fall of 2010 yet they rejected me even though I got accepted when I first applied in HS (did not go cause of financial reasons.) So now I feel relatively stuck at HWS, it is good academically but I can probably do better, but also most of all it is boring and the campus has no real spirit or soul making me feel limited. Should I try to raise my gpa once more this spring semester of 2010 to above a 3.0 and apply to transfer elsewhere or should I just stick it out since I will be a junior by the time of fall 2010.

Also I have considered taking a semester off and maybe going to a Community COllege in NYC for a while to really raise my gpa while being closer to home, what should I do please help.

Do you see the disconnect between these statements? You’re bored academically, yet only have a 2.8 gpa. You think you deserve to be at a more academically rigorous college, yet you only have a 2.8 gpa at your current college.

Whatever you decide to do, you need to make more realistic evaluations of your circumstances.

The best advise I can give is to look up the best party schools in the country, and apply to the easiest to get into. Penn State and West Virginia are up there, but they may be hard to get into. But you don’t have much to lose in applying there except for a $50 fee.
