Here are my stats
Austin community college transfer to TAMU - college station

Major : School of liberal arts - Sociology / modern languages

3.10 GPA
46 credits
A’s in sociology, psychology and foreign Lang classes

POST HIGH SCHOOL
Extra curriculars
President of two clubs for the past 2 years

Volunteer work:
Nursing Home Acivities assistant - 5 months
Church volunteer - past 2 years
Big brother , big sister - just started

I just started on my essay and will be getting recommendation letters from professors.
The admission officers said that they will take my volunteer work into consideration .

My daughter transferred this past fall to TAMU College of Liberal Arts. She had a 3.9 when she applied. Just make sure your credits all transfer to a class at TAMU and you are on a degree track. She only had 20 transferable hours, so she was deferred acceptance and found out in late May for fall of 2014 semester. We also went to the College of Liberal Arts, not just regular admissions and found out exactly what she needed to get admitted. It helped her a lot. As she able to transfer to begin her Sophomore year as an Aggie. I believe your GPA may need to be a little higher to be safe.
