My friend goes to community college and currently has a 3.2 GPA. I was wondering if she had a chance to get into U of I? She wants to do Information Systems or something with Computers. She's really good with computers, but isn't very good at math. (Still at the algebraic level) She usually gets C's and B's in those courses. She usually gets mostly A's in her other classes. The reason her GPA is so low is because she had a breast reduction surgery and the college wouldn't allow her to make up her final that she missed while in recovery for a few classes. I was wondering if she could have a chance to get into U of I if she raised her GPA to 3.5 or higher and retook the classes that she failed before of her surgery. What else would she need to do? She was a slacker in high school and is still learning to be a motivated student. Should she go for the LAS computer science classes, the ENG one, or the BUS one? Or would it be more realistic for her to consider a different major? (She's still not very sure what she wants to do.) I'd really like her to join me when I go to U of I, and I've asked her to try to apply for (not this fall) next fall. She's an amazing writer, and I'm sure she would get killer recommendations and essays. Any advice? And chances?
