Should I just forget it?

I just realized I spelt Colgate wrong. Intelligent. x.x

Iliara - may I ask why you are transferring from Stonehill and what you are looking for at Colgate or Hamilton? Aside being LACs and location they are pretty different.

Unfortunately, your high school transcript and scores are considered unless you have two years of college. So, your high school GPA is going to hurt your chances at these two very competitive LACs.

Hamilton - is not taking any transfers for spring 2007 see below.
<a href="http://www.hamilton.edu/admission/ApplicationProcess/Non-traditional.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.hamilton.edu/admission/ApplicationProcess/Non-traditional.html</a>
Per the common data set for Hamilton for 2005 78 transfers applied 28 were admitted.

I guess I'm not really happy with the college I'm attending now. I've always liked the schools, but knew I would never get in if I applied directly from highschool. I was thinking about applying to both schools in the spring, expressing my interest. But I realize I probably won't get in and I'll have to apply again my Sophmore year.

(I am aware now that) I want more of a Libral Arts education, despite the fact I'll probably be going Pre-Vet.

Thanks. Ah well, forget Hamilton and there's always getting into a good grad. school, right?

Doesn't mean you shouldn't try Hamilton and Colgate, just if you feel strongly about transferring you may want to consider some other schools too?

There are many great LACs that you would have a shot at as a transfer admit- Dickinson, Franklin and Marshall, Wheaton ( just a few miles from Stonehill), and Conn College. St. Michael's College in Colchester, Vermont has a great reputation and is in a gorgeous location. St. Michael's would be highly likely to admit you as a transfer.
I was interested in your opinion of Stonehill because my S. now a freshman at a LAC strongly considered attending Stonehill. He absolutely loved the campus and students on his visits. He ended up at one of the NESCAC LACs and is very happy.

Yeah, I guess I'll probably look at Dickinson and CT College in addition. I never really thought about them before, but I guess they're good possibilities. I've thought about MH as well.

I applied and got accepted to Wheaton (MA);it was between Wheaton and Stonehill in June when I had to decide. I didn't really like the housing at Wheaton and the community didn't seem like a fit. I also visited St. Michael's when I first started to look at colleges. It reminded me too much of my high school, the one I prefer not to remember. lol There was just something about it that turned me off.

Stonehill's okay, their science department seems really strong. Still, there are a few things I don't like about the school. 1. Classes come paired together. During my Sophomore year I'm going to have to take three classes together and so even if I don't like one of the professors who is teaching a class I'm stuck. 2. Most of the students are smart here, but they're not really motivated or at least the ones I have met so far. 3. The campus is so spread out. I should have considered this in the beginning. 4. The diversity is lacking. I had more international students at my high school than they have in my freshman class.

Now that I think about it, I don't even know why I chose it. Guess I listened to my mother too much. x.x

Best of luck to your son.

.....bump?
