I am a transfer student trying to decide between these three schools:Columbia, UPenn, and Brown. I am a Russian major, interested in being part of a student body that wants to learn for learing's sake, not just to land a good job, and with students who partake in intellectual conversations outside of class. Diversity is very important, in terms of race, thought, sexual orientation, interest etc. I also would like to be in an environment that offers lots of social options, rather than being centered around greek life. I know that all of these schools are amazing and I really can't go wrong. But does anyone have thoughts on the pros and cons of each?

Brown would probably be the most intellectual with Columbia close, and then Penn, though there will be intellectual types at all three.
In terms of diversity, they will all be pretty similar, though NYC is much more diverse than either Providence or Philly.
All three are in cities so there will be a lot of social options regardless. NYC will probably have the most, with Philly in second and Providence very close.

For what you want, I would narrow it down between Brown and Columbia with Brown slightly over Columbia.

Brown or Columbia, with Brown also slightly above Columbia
