I'm going to be starting my application soon for fall 2013 admission, but I won't have all of my department admission requirements for engineering. Does this affect my admission into the UW its self since I won't be ready to apply to my major department? I'll still have to complete engineering physics and or 2 chem classes and a few electives. Please help!

No, you’ll just be accepted into “Pre-Engineering”, and when you’re done with pre-reqs, you’ll have to apply to the department in Upper Division admissions, instead of directly as a transfer student.

So it won’t “decrease” my chances at being admitted to the university?

It could yes.

For transfer students specifically, they look at what classes you’ve taken thus far to prepare you for your intended major. If you haven’t done so, this could reflect poorly.

It doesn’t mean you won’t, but your chances will decrease.

You should go to a transfer Thursday session at UW, this is where I got my info and you will have a chance to ask them any other questions you might have. (I am also a current uw student who transfered)

It’s not that I haven’t taken classes to prepare for the major, it’s just that all of the pre admission courses will not be completed by the time I finish my AA degree I also currently have a 3.7 gpa. I plan on going to a transfer Thursday for the second time this quarter.
