Transfer Student Experience?

I'm thinking about transferring next year as a sophomore to McGill University. I currently go to NYU and am just not loving it. I like the academics but I just don't love it. The nightlife kinda is limited for an 18 year old and the school is ridiculously hipster. Any advice for a transfer? What was your experience like? Did you assimilate well? Was making friends/finding your niche easy? Thanks.

Hey, I transferred this year to McGill from a liberal arts college in the states. Montreal is awesome and McGill is a great school. If I had one piece of advice it would be to definitely live in Rez - you’re going to get the whole “Freshman experience” again (not sure if this is a pro or con for you) but it will be worth it in the end for meeting people. I lived in an apartment alone my first year it was very difficult to meet people. PM if you have any other questions

Socially transferring could be worth it - as a transfer student myself, I will warn that the process is very much jumping through hoops, long, bureaucratic and more of a hassle than it should be. I was notified in mid-July which was difficult coming from the other side of the country (booking flights - etc). Best of luck.
