so, i just transferred to UCF, one of the regional campuses and just recently changed my major to Economics, which is primarily offered at the Orlando Campus, i have to take a few pre-req classes like 3 of them, i was advised to be a transient student; however, my F/A (financial aid) advisor recommended that i was to avoid it all cost primarily because due to the fact that tuition/fees were on different dates and i would have to pay for my classes up front. so considering this option, i've decided to avoid being a transient student. my question is, does f/a cover on campus housing? i've been leaning towards the towers (it's close and safe), also when i filed for fafsa i stated "living off campus" which im sure that affects my aid/reward
i was thinking about making corrections on fafsa which i could and it gives me the option but should i? it takes like 4 weeks to process....and im afraid that if do this i can further delay financial aid to cover my courses.

another question: has anyone taken virtual courses (VR)? i know i have to attend the testing centers at assigned campuses, but is there any complications im enrolled to take 4 Virtual courses...

thanks!

I’ll try to answer your questions since no one has yet. Two of my kids are in college and receiving financial aid and I’ve also returned to college as well so I have some experience with how it works.

I don’t think going back and changing your FAFSA will make any difference to your financial aid award. Last year my son was planning to go to Valencia and live at home, but later decided to go to Tallahassee Community College and live off campus in an apartment so we changed his FAFSA. His award stayed exactly the same, he just had to use his loan money to pay for rent and other living expenses. Therefore, you can use any available loan money for room and board for the dorms.

The advantage of being a transient student at Valencia is the classes are half the cost of UCF. Unfortunately, if you don’t have the money to pay up front, than you wouldn’t be able to take advantage of that option. I’m in that same situation. Even though I graduated from Valencia last semester, some of my classes I transferred that Valencia accepted, UCF will not, so I have to retake them. Ugh!!

Good luck!!

By the way, did you want virtual courses or was that all that they had available? Was that because you are at a regional campus? And did they give you any information about how the virtual courses are taught? Like does the professor give you a chapter to read and then the test or is it a video of lectures? I’m debating on whether or not to go to the regional campus or not.

Thanks!!
