I am currently attending Santa Rosa Junior College in California. I have just recently applied as a transfer student for the spring semester at NYU's College of Arts and Sciences. I applied as a musicology student. I am wondering what are my chances of being accepted considering the following:

1) I have a 3.9, unweighted college GPA
2) I have only been in college for three semesters, but I am at a junior level standing concerning credits.
3) I have taken 90% of the pre-reqs for my major, and I have a large breadth of general education classes completed.
4) I am minoring in anthropology, and am currently taking both physical and cultural anthro.
5) I am involved in several extra-curricular activities such as working as a paid Legal Clerk and Music Theory Tutor, singing in a vocal jazz ensemble, and community service through music.

I understand from the information on the CAS Music webpage that only a few students are let into the program each year. I realize that is very selective, but I am curious if I have a decent shot.

Thank you for any responses to me question, and I appreciate your time.

NYU’s website is not entirely clear about this, but it appears that the music major in the College of Arts and Sciences is a general music major and that the ethnomusicology program is a graduate specialization. So, you should check this out.
