Since U of M is my dream school and I am starting my junior year of college as a pre-med student, I decided it is finally time to apply! I am applying to LSA. I went to Macomb community college for my first two years where I took basic classes and was able to fulfill the Michigan transfer agreement and end up with a 3.9 gpa. I started at Oakland University in the summer of 2015 and took gen chem 1 and lab and I am taking a few science pre-req courses there now (fall 15’ - 15 credits worth). So far I have a 4.0 gpa at oakland. I’ve worked at a surgery center as a nursing assistant getting patient contact hours for over a year now and have been volunteering at a hospital as well. I’ve never been in any kinds of clubs or anything through school though which I know may hurt my chances of getting accepted. I also did not send a letter of rec with my application… anybody have any advice or ideas on my chances of getting in or what I can do to strengthen my chances? Any help would be great, Thanks!
Make sure you get a prof rec. as it is a new transfer requirement this year. Hold on to that 4.0 if you can. Hopefully you have close to 50 credits. Introduce yourself to your assigned transfer counselor via email and express your interest. Get that application in with your volunteer/work info and great essays… you have till October 1st.
Well I actually already applied and sent them everything except a letter of rec. I have 46 credits that I sent already and with this semester it will be 59. Does the letter of rec have to be from a professor or can it be from a supervisor at work? Either way I will be having to ask someone and hope they can get it to me by oct 1st… thanks for the insight though
Better to get a professor to write for you. It can be added to your file when it arrives. Explain that you have requested it when you contact your transfer adcom …and are hopeful it will be there on time. They can watch out for it. I had mine sent to the adcom but I think there is another address for this but I am unsure what it is. This is another good question for your adcom too. Good luck to you!! Hope you will be going Blue!
Just talked to my old professor for anatomy and physiology and she is writing me one so hopefully this will work out! Thanks a lot!
Should have a great chance. As a transfer student at UM what they really want to see is usable credits. Check the transfer credit equivalency guide and you want to be above 45 the closer to Junior status the better. Good luck
Just got in to LSA! Hard works pays off!!
