Transfer student fraternity join?

hey,
I applied as a transfer student for Fall 2010 transfer to UCLA and I would like to join a Fraternity. Can someone tell me when i should start searching?????

fall2010, rush happens during 0/1st week

Okay, is that the first week of classes starting fall 2010?

Rush happens during 0 week which is right before classes start. Classes usually start on a Thursday (probably the 23rd in 2010). Zero week starts Sunday with move in (actually move in starts the preceding Friday), and many activities for freshmen and transfer students. So Rush usually begins during the week a few days before classes start on the 23rd. So if you want to rush you should be on campus by Monday the 20th.

so how would transfer students find housing if they dont begin recruiting until right before classes?

I really cannot answer your question. My daughter is a sophomore at UCLA and is in a sorority but my knowledge of fraternities is pretty slim. Most transfers line up housing well before showing up on campus. Living in the dorms your first year would be a great way to meet people. As far as living in a frat house…I hope someone else chimes in here with some info for you. I don’t think I would plan on living in a frat house your first quarter as there is no guarentee you will get a bid. If you join one you could always move in after fall quarter. Once you get accepted to UCLA you will get tons of info on housing, etc. so I would just wait until then. In the meantime you can go to the main greek life website for UCLA and get some basic info. [UCLA Fraternity & Sorority Relations](http://www.greeklife.ucla.edu).

You might try joining a frat at your current school as they will honor the membership at UCLA (I am pretty sure about that). Once again, I hope others will chime in here and answer some of your questions as I really don’t have the details you are looking for. Good luck.

you can live in a dorm, apartment.
if you decide to rush, get a bid, and accept, you mite be able move in, but dont count on it as rooms will already be full by the current ppl in the house.

thank you. dang, its sounds so confusing. Maybe i should just wait. I was hoping to get a head start and not be one of those left without a good spot in a fraternity
