Transfer Student from community college

Hello,
I’m currently attending community college and I am hopeful of getting into UCI.
I’ve decided that I would like to go into Business Economics, however, I have some questions.

I currently have a 3.1 GPA after doing poorly in a few semesters due to unavoidable health issues. I believe I’ll be able to boost my GPA up to a 3.4 to meet the TAG requirements although it may take me the summer, fall and spring semesters. I have completed all of the necessary courses except for Calc 2 (enrolled for spring 2017) and one of the Psychology classes.

The main question I have is that on the UCI website separate from the TAG requirements, it states these requirements for the School of Social Sciences:
-Complete one course in microeconomics with a grade of B or better
-Complete one course in macroeconomics with a grade of B or better
-Complete two semesters/two quarters of approved first-year calculus with a grade of B or better

Are these only for non-TAG transfers or do they also apply to TAG?
If yes I believe it will be impossible to TAG into UCI because I received a C in macroeconomics.

If I can manage to improve my GPA a little, what are my chances for getting in without TAG? Do the grade of B requirements still stand?

Thanks everybody!

The requirements listed are for TAG and non-TAG transfers.

If you check this link for Transfer UC GPA by major, the admit range for Business Econ for 2015 was 3.62-3.90. Unless you can tag, it probably will be a stretch.

OK, so in addition to TAG I would also need a B in each Econ class. Disappointing because I cannot re-take those classes.

I never understood the logic behind that. You cannot re-take a class you received a C in, but if you THINK you will get a C by the end of the semester you can just purposely fail on order to have the ability to retry it…

Well you may make it in, you never know, might get waitlisted and get in after that too. I guess it’s too late, but I would have suggested an alternate major as backup. Did you apply to other UCs or CSUs ?
