I will soon be transferring out from a CC, and looking for a great anthropology school in NorCal. I want to focus more on archaeology since that is what I'm most interested in. Any thoughts on what state school I should consider overall?
Sonoma state, San Fran. State, Chico state, San Jose state, sac state? Or any other suggestions

They are all good schools and all offer Anthropology. I think visiting them would help you get a better idea of each school. They are all fairly similar academically but offer a very different feel.

I know Chico and Sonoma have really good programs in Anthropology…Sonoma in particular. San Jose is more of a techy place/criminal justice school. Sacramento is pretty good. I don’t know anything about san fran’s program.

Im transferring out of a CC also and I am doing human development and visiting Sonoma next week! I have heard their Anthro program is pretty good!

Chico and Sonoma are both good schools - They have very a different feel from one another. Sonoma has ‘better’ weather and is much smaller but, kinda dead on the weekend. Chico gets HOT sometimes, is in the middle of a vibrant downtown and always has something going on.

A visit to both will help you make your decision.
