I am a sophomore in Boston’s Simmons College (Finance Major, Stats Minor). I’ve decided to transfer for the Fall 07 academic year, and here are my stats

GPA
Fall 05: 3.1
Spring 06: 3.49

SAT 1210/1600
ACT 24

Extracurricular activities in College:
Volunteer Work at Women’s Lunch Place (it’s a very similar organization to Soup Kitchen)
Economics Liaison
Asian Students Association

Here are the list of schools I’m thinking about, do you think I have a chance of getting into at least one of these (If yes, please tell me which one)

Georgetown U. (MSB) - Longggggg shot, I know. but it’s my dream school

U MN Twin Cities

Michigan State

American U

Temple

P.S I want to know how much of a factor are the high school records, because I was going through family issues back then and not going to lie… it really affected my records.

I think you have very good chances at several of your schools: American and Temple both have very high transfer acceptance rates. Although UMinn Twin Cities and Mich State don't, you're pretty high on SAT scores compared to their Freshman 25-75% range. Of course, Georgetown is a reach, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try for it. I think you have a nice balance of schools.

Things to do:
1. Get your best possible GPA in Fall 2006, while still taking a rigorous course load relevant to your planned major.
2. Cultivate relationships with two of your favorite profs so that you can get very strong prof recommendations.
3. Research the schools you are targetting very well, so that you can really tailor your essays (for the ones who have them) to show why the school is right for you.
4. Check the "minimum GPA for transfer" on each school's website and make sure you're there. If not, it may not be worth a try. I think you'll be fine on this for most, if not all, of your schools.

Re high school record - you'll have to check each school's transfer app instructions. Some may not ask for them for Junior transfer. In all cases, they will be less important than they would have been for Freshman app (obviously!) or soph transfer. Come back here (or PM me) for advice if they look important for any given school and you want to know whether to write an explanation or just leave it alone.
