Transfer Student in DESPERATE need of advice

Hello all, for the past couple weeks I have really been trying to do research on places to apply, but have gotten no where. I went to see my High School guidance counselor and he was helpful but the sense I got was that with my High School grades it would be hard to really transfer somewhere very good. I am a second semester freshman now at SUNY New Paltz and as I understand when applying for Fall admission most schools will only see midterm grades of the second semester. Obviously this hurts me because my college grades are alot better then HS. My guidance counselor suggested a bunch of very competitive schools that I could get into with my college GPA, but added with my HS grades I might have to wait and try to apply for spring of next year which I agreed with. Here are my stats and some of the schools (some of which may be complete reaches) I have thought about

Stats:
College GPA: 3.77 first semester, expecting the same or higher second semester
EC's: lots of political stuff, clubs, homeless shelter work etc...
Recommendations: two recs from teachers i knew and did very well with. I expect them to be quite good.
HS Grades: 3.0 GPA, 1860 SAT at competitive public HS

Possible Schools?: Binghamton, UVA, Brandeis, Vanderbilt, NYU, BU, emory, umich,
I expect most of these schools to be way out of reach but would just like to see what your opinions are and if you guys would suggest some other schools that would be fantastic! Thanks!

I don’t know much about Bing, but I would also suggest a jr transfer for the others.

How is your financial situation, are you able/willing to pay full fare for NYU (they have very poor FA) and UMichigan (OOS)? Will you qualify for need based FA?

money is not an issue and no loans will have to be taken out. I wouldn’t quality for need based aid anyway. Don’t know if that changes anything but any other schools I should consider?

bump bump…
