Transfer student looking for CS school

I'm am a comp sci major at Clemson right now and their cs program doesn't offer as many classes as id like in my concentration. I am paying $15,000 a year total to be here and would like to pay a similar amount somewhere else. I am a Minnesota resident but hate the midwestern winters so am looking to go somewhere else. I am hoping I can get an oos tuition waiver somewhere.
here are my stats:
3.95 GPA in HS
31 ACT
varsity hockey

I have no idea how transfer admissions work but is my situation workable?

How long have you been at Clemson? Are you a sophomore looking to transfer as a junior?

Transfer admissions will look primarily at your college record versus your high school record. What are your college stats?

I started as a freshman this August. Don't even know my grades.

OK. Do your best academically and don't let the transfer issue distract you from your studies. You may have to stay at Clemson until you are finished with your sophomore year, because a lot of colleges only take junior transfers.

If you have a good academic record and some extra-cirricular stuff during your college career to make you stand out, you will have no problems transferring to another school.

Well, you can always go to Madison for about that without aid and it is warmer than Minn. Excellent comp sci too. Much more happening than Clemson SC

^ You mean, UW-Madison?

If so, that would be a fantastic choice. But, how is it warmer than Minnesota?

It's way warmer--relatively. When Minny is -5 degrees Madison will be a balmy +10. It makes a difference. Just like the diff between SF and LA--they are about that far apart and Minny is way north from Madison.

I was thinking madison but yeah its still cold. And I have already been accepted there.

Ok I'm applying to Carnegie Mellon but would like another school that is a little closer to the equator.

USCalif. accepts a lot of transfers, and has a good CS program, but I don't know if you could qualify for FA, as it is a private U.

I was accepted there but it came with a $45k a year bill!

^ Ouch! You were accepted to some great schools. Curious as to why you chose Clemson? Was it for the warmer weather?

Georgia Tech could be a good option as well.

Clemson was the warmest and cheapest. Texas A&M, UT Austin, and USC were all at least twice as much as Clemson.

i take that back, texas is warmer! SC is a bit more mild which i like!
