Transfer student looking into architecture

Hello,

Well I am at Ithaca College right now with a GPA of 3.567 and I'm in my second semester. What would be some good schools NEAR A CITY to transfer to that would have architecture, but also some other majors too (in case I realize architecture isn't for me). I know Cornell is a great architecture school (if not the best) but I would really prefer a school closer to a city with more possibilities for internships. I think any major city would be good but I would really prefer it to be in New England or Texas/Louisiana (family situation).

Thanks everyone!

Northeastern, UMass Amherst, Drexel, Texas Tech, Suny Buffalo, Syracuse and Tulane.

Just to further expound on Tulane as a possibility, the way it is structured (all schools being under the umbrella of Newcomb-Tulane College, which is all you apply and get accepted to) it is extremely easy to change majors. Tulane was just recognized as a “hidden gem” by one of the leading architecture journals. Be aware, though, that the Tulane program is a 5 year masters degree. As far as internship possibilities, with all the rebuilding going on in New Orleans, students get a chance to apply their education to real life every day, and see it actually implemented.

I am sure those other programs have many plusses as well, but I only know about Tulane’s through some independent research I have done. Hope that is useful to you.

University of Houston. I would recommend Rice, but I don’t think the architecture school at Rice accepts transfer students… but you can always shoot Rice’s architecture school an email

OP,
Post your question on the Architecture Major subforum too, there are many well informed members there.

I didn’t realize there was an architecture forum. Perhaps I’ll repost my question there.

However I will consider everyone’s suggestions. And yeah rice doesnt except transfers to their architecture program :frowning: I guess I would have apply to the H&S school then transfer once im there. It would be worth an email.
