Transfer student McGill

I'm applied to transfer to McGill for fall 2011 and it's taking forever to get an answer ! I'm at UNB (canada) and I have a 4.1 GPA out of 4.3 I'm wondering if it is good enough to get in or if chances are I won't !

You have a 4.1 GPA. If you can’t get in, none of us have hope. They take a while looking at transfer applicants because McGill saves them for last – just be patient.

Maybe you can help me out… http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/mcgill-university/1156681-transfer-applicant-mcgill-fall-2011-a.html

What program are you trying to transfer to ?

I am trying to transfer for my second year in Bcom

Did anyone get admitted ? mine is still ready for review

Mine still says further review require ! I think we won’t get an answer before the end of June or beginning of July !

I finally got into McGill (Arts). I was half expecting to be waitlisted because transfer students from past years with grades similar to mine were initially put on the waitlist, but I really have been admitted! However, I’m suspecting that, despite the fact that I had to apply as a transfer student, McGill actually considered my case to be different because I already completed an undergraduate degree; my convocation is in two days from now in fact. It was still a very pleasant surprise though to receive a decision today.

Leannie:
Congratulation ! What kind of gpa did u have ? And which school did u transfer from ?

Thanks!
My school (Waterloo) only gives percentages and doesn’t calculate a GPA for some reason. My cumulative average over all courses (47 courses over four years) was 83.6%, but all of the courses that significantly dragged down my average were upper year mathematics courses, which hopefully didn’t count against me too much since I applied to Arts at McGill.

Hey! Firstly congratulations for being accepted at McGill! I will be going to Waterloo this fall for Arts and I was wondering if you could tell me how the process has been for you while transferring as I too, wish to transfer to McGill later. Also, can you please let me know if I could transfer to a business course in Waterloo first and then transfer to McGill?

Thanks in advance for your help!

The process of transferring from Waterloo to McGill has not been great for me actually. McGill has a somewhat low rate of acceptance for transfers and doesn’t notify students of decisions until the summer, which for many months made planning next year very difficult. Toronto, for instance, accepted me as early as April even though I purposely applied to McGill a month before I applied to UofT. I would say the long wait is the main problem with transferring to McGill. I believe you can take whatever you want to take while at Waterloo. My studies at Waterloo (mainly math, accounting and finance) had very little to do with what I plan to study at McGill (linguistics).

Stephe 14 : your GPA is almost perfect… Would it be rude if I ask you how many courses you took?

I just finished my first year and I took 11 courses

you took more than I did Btw, I went to a high school in the maritimes so Did you get admitted yet?

I still don’t have an answer ! It is taking a long time

steph what is your application status ? decision ?
mine is further review required and they are requesting my final university transcript but I have already submitted everything ( fall-winter) I did not take summer

Student 199222: what faculty did you apply to ?? I guess that we are in the same situation :)

Mechanical engineering so do u have the same status as me ? ArE they still requesting the final univeristy transcript ?

Nope, they have already received it, but my statue still appears “futher review required.” which is a good sign  I think that I need to wait till they change the statue. If you already sent your final transcript, call them. If they say they receive it, then you do not have to worry about lol They will update it before they make final decision :)

My status still says further review required and they received my final transcript in may
